Will Costco be killed by mobile? Maybe, but it won’t be by Boxed, a mobile app that delivers large quantities of consumer packaged goods to your front door. The products from Boxed come in bigger quantities (think of membership clubs like Costco or Sam’s). While Costco and Sam’s Club figure that out, a new app called Boxed is happy to fill the void.
Chieh Huang, Christopher Cheung, and Jared Yaman got out of Zynga New York before things got ugly. You remember — the t-shirt ripping, the people finding out they were laid off over Facebook. The three sold their mobile game company, Astro Ape Studios, to Zynga in 2011 and left on good terms, before even Dan Porter, the CEO of OMGPop, did. Warehouse club deals, good. Spending a whole Saturday there with the kids, not good. With the Boxed app, bulk items get delivered right to your door. Wow. Aug 23, 2013. Just spent an hour researching Boxed vs Costco for products that I regularly use. I’ve never used Prime Pantry, but I buy a ton of stuff at CostCo. If you’ve used both services how do they stack up?. As far as the fee for the box is concerned, I look at it as paying someone 6 to shop for me.
Pando: Boxed Is More Than An Costco Delivery App
Though the prices appear similar on Boxed, it looks like Costco is a little cheaper (at least for the items I typically buy), and Costco regularly has sales on those items which would save 2-4 dollars per item. The payments firm rolled out Express Checkout for Boxed, the mobile app version of Costco. But in a strange twist of fate, we found ourselves dues-paying members of Costco — for the first time ever — today. Then Sam’s Club eventually instituted a policy stating they were not responsible for putting your items into the box for you.
