Probably the glulam / LVL suppliers do it the same everywhere. Yes, the existing doors are 7, this garage was built in the early 80’s, I do not know why they went with the smaller doors. Call a local truss supplier, they usually supply LVL material, glulam, paralam type beams, too. I had this engineered I didn’t notice that they sized for a header over each door, instead of a single header extending across both doors & supprted in the middle I’m wondering which would be better? I looked at a couple houses & so far every one has a single header extending across both doors & supported in the middle There will also be only (2) LVL beams & I have 2×6 walls So I was going to have a 2×12 as additional support for the wall/floor above.
