HI, I’m ordering just drawer fronts to replace on my old drawers. I have just realized that when he assembled the drawer he attached the hardware to the front plate with screws and then he glued the front panel to the drawer box. Remove all the cabinet doors, drawers and all hardware. Some drawers have one-piece fronts that are glued to the drawer sides and are not removable.
Apply self-adhesive covering to cabinet face frames. I’m tring to remove some wooden knobs securely glued on drawer fronts with hide glue so I can refinish the badly damaged piece of furniture. Barring these are glued on, you can get a hammer and a small board to hit on. Lay the board against the back side of the faux drawer facing and tap firmly but not too hard with the hammer. He said we need to remove that in order to finish the job.
Just wondering if anyone has any tips on how to remove drawer handles from a bedside table / tall boy / wardrobe where there are no visible screws. Id drill it out from the back for sure, then be careful when removing the knob as it will be glued to the front of hte drawer as well. I was thinking of putting the drawers in and then attatching the fronts temporarily with hot. Remove both screws, remove the drawer front, apply glue and screw back on to each drawer front. I have a cabinet that i plan on removing the current face frame and replacing it with a new one with a different drawer/door setup it appears the face frame is glued, nailed and stapled to the cabinet. If this is the case, just hand-plane the remaining rabbet flush with the case front.

Repair drawers with glue, clamps and new guides. Remove the solid front of the drawer by unscrewing the screws inside the drawer used to secure the drawer front to the drawer box. Wood glue to put the bits back on that broke off, remove all those nails/screws. After the glue on the drawer front has dried, more wood glue where the drawer front contacts the dawer. The loose door knobs, nicked door fronts and slamming drawers. Remove a drawer track and a cabinet track and take them shopping with you. If your drawers just have screws, you will be able to remove the front as soon as you unscrew them from the backside of the drawer box. If you had to struggle to pry away a glued drawer front, you might want to forego using any adhesive and just use screws and nails. Luckily, it should be fairly easy to find and install a new drawer. The biggest challenge might be removing the remnants of all that smeared glue. Panels for the drawer fronts are glued up from several narrow pieces. I used a piece of scrap birch and gradually removed material until I reached the shape I was after.

I then used wood glue to glue the plywood onto the MDF, placed the thick piece of oak I just removed from the drawer front on top simply for weight and support, and then clamped them together until the glue dried. If I were fixing this drawer, I’d certainly glue it up as everyone has suggested, AND I’d finish by nailing it, using brads, entering through the sides and penetrating into the front. Second, I’d remove the drawer face from the front of the box — it looks like it’s attached with those four screws in the corners there — and work on the repair like that.
