So i finally watched it and just wow..good thing i didnt remember the trailer at all. If the plot twist was that it was all set up then that wasnt much of a twist. If The Cabin in the Woods is intended as a story in which the scenario operators are the protagonists and Marty and Dana are the villains, it is a rather shapeless one. But to me, the ending, where the ancients aren’t appeased and destroy the world is such a downer. Marty is given a choice to either die or let the world die with him, and it is so bizarre to me that he chooses to live, or that Dana doesn’t rationalise that all her loved ones will die if she doesn’t kill him.
